Okay, sure, there are health and athletic performance reasons we included cacao in PRELIXIR. Let’s just get those out of the way: flavanols in cacao are believed to promote nitric oxide production (like SO much else in our dank brew) which relaxes arteries and helps blood flow. Also cacao flavanols seem to have anti-inflammatory properties that improve glucose metabolism and lower insulin resistance, this all according to an ongoing 4-year, 18,000 participant study at Harvard and Brigham Women’s Hospital.
But let’s talk AZTECS. They LOVED chocolate stuff, they used it for a lot of stuff, including religious practices associated with blood, which is so interesting because it actually is good for your blood! Here’s a fun Aztec thing: they would make a drink of cacao mixed with blood from sacrificial knives and then beautiful male slaves adorned in jewels of the gods would drink it, dancing for 40 days before themselves being sacrificed. HISTORY IS COOL!
But what about the bitcoin thing? Cacao beans were used as currency! What would cacao buy you? Glad you asked! A single cacao bean would buy one large tomato; three beans, a newly picked avocado; 30 beans, a rabbit; and 200 beans, a turkey cock.
We have about one avocado’s worth of cacao in a single serving of PRELIXIR! A whole avocado!? Your move, millenials!
